In 1925, the founders of UGA decided that African Americans deserved a path to enjoy the sport of golf competitively similar to their White counterparts. Hundreds were successful in competing against other African Americans up until the mid-70’s at UGA managed events, but only a few hand-fulls have been able to compete Nationally and Internationally at the Professional Tours. That trend that has lasted 95 years and ends with the new leadership of United Golfers Association.
Under the new leadership we have created the “Path to the Tour (P3T),” an elite golf development academy that will assist in developing thousands of youth to compete in junior tournaments, at the college level and through to the professional tours. Combine customized technical instruction with our course management and competition methodology, as well as our Performance programs to increase core power, flexibility and focus/confidence – the Golf Academy develops golfers who can compete anywhere. Through personalized training and recruitment plans implemented from the day you enter the campus gates, the P3T Golf Academy enriches the preparatory process from the foundational level and beyond. This Academy will help every aspect of their physical and mental abilities as a golfer and in life along with preparing them to compete and win major tour events around the world.
The P3T Program will feature 5 Phases of Development beginning with Junior Golfers to Tour Staff Players. The United Golfers Association will support local and regional golf development programs that focus on the sport as an athlete and education as a professional. The UGA Foundation will provide funding to subsidize the expenses for select families and players who desire to compete in the local, regional, and national events.
Phase V, starts out with a full game evaluation that tests a players ability in ball striking, biomechanics, putting, short game, playing, mental, fitness, nutrition, competition, decision-making, course management, practice, interviewing, and lifestyle. Based on the evaluation, the coaching staff picks only those players who has the essential tools to play on the PGA/LPGA Tours. P3T will then train these players in a team concept, but each player will have their own player training program specific to their individual needs and golf personality.
